The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling André-Pierre Gignac in the 12th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rafael Ramos prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 16 minutes into the match, Veracruz F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Américo Oberto came free, but Rafael Ramos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rafael Ramos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Américo Oberto in the 16th minute of play. Rafael Ramos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ziya Di Maria, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 29th minute, Christian Castillo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 32nd minute, André-Pierre Gignac ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rafael Ramos was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. With a little luck, Buenaventura FC's Carlos Eduardo Ramos got control of the ball when Naw Kean tried to sneak it across the goal line. 40 minutes into the match, Veracruz F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Ziya Di Maria came free, but Rafael Ramos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Christian Castillo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Carlos Eduardo Ramos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Naw Kean, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Charly Tevez to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Veracruz F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when André-Pierre Gignac came free, but Rafael Ramos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Buenaventura FC's Cezary Przybylo got a free kick in the 54th minute. Carlos Eduardo Ramos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Naw Kean in the 55th minute of the match. Rafael Ramos made a fantastic save in the 58th minute, when Américo Oberto sent off a good shot on target. After 64 played minutes Veracruz F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Leonidas Treviño. After some fancy dribbling in the 65th minute, Walter Bock managed to get in a good position for a shot. Buenaventura FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Walter Bock was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rafael Ramos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Veracruz F.C.'s Rafael Ramos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ziya Di Maria in the 69th minute of play. The supporters of Veracruz F.C. booed when Buenaventura FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Américo Oberto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Carlos Eduardo Ramos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Naw Kean in the 71st minute of the match. André-Pierre Gignac could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 74th minute of the match, but Rafael Ramos made a huge save. Américo Oberto's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 76thth minute, Rafael Ramos skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Carlos Eduardo Ramos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Naw Kean in the 79th minute of play. After 84 played minutes Veracruz F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Gilvan Cordeiro. Veracruz F.C.'s Rafael Ramos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ziya Di Maria in the 85th minute of play. A collision led to Buenaventura FC getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Ziya Di Maria hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Veracruz F.C.'s Rolando Alfaro got a free kick in the 91st minute. If André-Pierre Gignac had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Walter Bock in the 96th minute of play forced Veracruz F.C.'s goalkeeper Rafael Ramos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The corner led Buenaventura FC's Walter Bock to fire away a dangerous shot which Rafael Ramos despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball.
