Guagua Mirueña received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Zornin Mendieta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Teobald Podolski's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Zornin Mendieta was relentless in the 13th minute of the game. After some fancy dribbling in the 29th minute, Urbasa Yañez managed to get in a good position for a shot. UD Espinel's supporters rose to their feet, but Urbasa Yañez was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Zornin Mendieta breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 42nd minute Urbasa Yañez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zornin Mendieta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Zornin Mendieta showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Urbasa Yañez, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. Urbasa Yañez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

In the 66th match minute, UD Espinel was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Guagua Mirueña to maneuver through the defense. José-Luis Sobre showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vimaro Baptista, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. Urbasa Yañez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zornin Mendieta having to interfere. UD Espinel's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
