Guamán Cires showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Evelio Duyos in the 20th minute of the match. Apocalypto's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave CD Zumbahua the free kick. Guamán Cires made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alejandro Zornoza in the 90th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Apocalypto's Yépez Aoiz got a free kick in the 92nd minute. Manolo Omente recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 95 minutes into the match, Apocalypto's goal looked a bit too open when Eugenio Tene came free, but Pedro Monterroso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Apocalypto players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
