In the 6th minute, Digna's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Daniel Oceta fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. After a defensive mix-up in Digna's zone, Orlando Chapado stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ricardo Solares came out of the goal and Orlando Chapado tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ambrossi Malta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Ysidro Quijano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Orlando Chapado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ricardo Solares having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Digna's Amador Haya got a free kick in the 26th minute. 27 minutes into the game, Orlando Chapado recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Ricardo Solares. Orlando Chapado showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. After 30 played minutes Esmeraldas Petrolero got a freekick which was hit by Lucio Orive. Ambrossi Malta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ysidro Quijano having to interfere. Ysidro Quijano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ambrossi Malta in the 34th minute of the match. Ximenez Abarca kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. Fernandez Machado blasted a shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ysidro Quijano having to make a save. 44 minutes into the match, Esmeraldas Petrolero's goal looked a bit too open when Fernandez Machado came free, but Ysidro Quijano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 47th minute Ambrossi Malta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ysidro Quijano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

The wind increased when Orlando Chapado made the kick off in the second half. Orlando Chapado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Ricardo Solares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 54th minute, Ximenez Abarca hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ricardo Solares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Orlando Chapado in the 58th minute of the match. Fernandez Machado sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Daniel Oceta's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ricardo Solares read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 63rd minute of play. Digna's Ambrossi Malta got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 67th minute, Digna's Ambrossi Malta dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. When Paco Larrauri fell near the penalty area in the 71st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Esmeraldas Petrolero's protests and gave Paco Larrauri a yellow card for diving instead. Jaime Labra walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. The supporters of Digna booed when Esmeraldas Petrolero was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Camacho Rendueles didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Digna's Fernandez Machado, in the 79th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Digna. After some careless play in the Digna defense, Daniel Oceta kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ricardo Solares. The Digna fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ricardo Solares should have stopped the shot. Fernandez Machado could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 88th minute of the match, but Ysidro Quijano made a huge save. Ambrossi Malta blasted a shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ysidro Quijano having to make a save. Orlando Chapado scored 3-1 in the 96th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ricardo Solares, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Esmeraldas Petrolero had won after a very even match.
