After 6 minutes, Segundo Iztal mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Dep. Kito and the Liga de Quito players grew even worse after the yellow card. Segundo Iztal hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. When Dep. Kito's Mårten Persson in the 11th minute got a chance for a shot 11th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Liga de Quito's goalie prevented a goal. Xulio Cezuago hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. After 16 played minutes, Liga de Quito's Aguirre Oria shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Rodolfo Pas came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Liga de Quito reached it. In the 19th minute the ball was on its way in behind Liga de Quito's goalkeeper Pancho Frias, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mårten Persson in the 25th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Pancho Frias prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When the match clock showed 30 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Mårten Persson sped through Liga de Quito's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Pancho Frias. 33 minutes into the match, Mårten Persson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Pancho Frias. Liga de Quito's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mårten Persson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. 38 minutes into the game, Dep. Kito's Vilson Barja nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Pancho Frias made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. 45 minutes into the match, Liga de Quito's goal looked a bit too open when Ramón Buiza came free, but Pancho Frias reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Leonel Valcazar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Geovanni Sanches to strike the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the game, Dep. Kito's Mårten Persson nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Pancho Frias made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4. Mårten Persson might have been able to make a better finish in the 58th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Pancho Frias. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mårten Persson ran back to his position shaking his head. Ramón Buiza was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 59th minute. Dep. Kito's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. 65 minutes into the match, Liga de Quito's goal looked a bit too open when Mårten Persson came free, but Pancho Frias reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Liga de Quito defense, Ramón Buiza kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Pancho Frias. The Liga de Quito fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Pancho Frias should have stopped the shot. Ramón Buiza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pancho Frias having to interfere. Pancho Frias made a fantastic save in the 81st minute, when Ramón Buiza sent off a good shot on target. Ramón Buiza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Pancho Frias tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Liga de Quito's Escobar Larrategui got a free kick in the 85th minute. Kito's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
