The supporters of CS.Emelec booed when MONTUFAR was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lopez Belaunde didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 4th minute Cristobal Morelo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ivan Guztros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jácome Aragon in the 5th minute of play forced MONTUFAR's goalkeeper Ivan Guztros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cristobal Morelo kicked well hit freekick during the 6th minute of the match. In the 8th match minute, CS.Emelec was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jácome Aragon to maneuver through the defense. Alejandro Mauricio could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 13th minute of the match, but Suscal Arrocha made a huge save. CS.Emelec's Suscal Arrocha proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 15th minute of the match, managed to save CS.Emelec from getting a goal against them. Ivan Guztros showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jácome Aragon in the 17th minute of the match. Ivan Guztros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jácome Aragon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Cristobal Morelo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jácome Aragon's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ivan Guztros read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 21st minute of play. If Fabricio Clavijo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Díaz Ledesma in the 26th minute of play forced MONTUFAR's goalkeeper Ivan Guztros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 27th minute Cristobal Morelo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ivan Guztros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alejandro Mauricio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. CS.Emelec's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Fabricio Clavijo 30 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-0. Alejandro Mauricio who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 37thth minute tested the skills of Suscal Arrocha when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Alejandro Mauricio struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Suscal Arrocha didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for MONTUFAR. Suscal Arrocha made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alejandro Mauricio in the 43rd minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jácome Aragon to make the kick off. After having played for 62 minutes, Jácome Aragon managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. CS.Emelec's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jácome Aragon was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 65th minute, CS.Emelec's Jácome Aragon ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Ivan Guztros. Ivan Guztros yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-1. Suscal Arrocha didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alejandro Mauricio went, in the 70th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. A collision led to MONTUFAR getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Rosero Collazos hit a great ball. CS.Emelec's Eugenio Rino got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. MONTUFAR fully deserved thier win.
