Cristian Cuartas made a great header on Liga de Ecuador's corner, it was just that Calabi's Vinicio Reneros managed to reach the ball for a save. After 41 minutes of play, Liga de Ecuador's Fabian Calvillo made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Vinicio Reneros was left in no man's land by his defense there! 45 minutes into the match, Calabi's goal looked a bit too open when Fabian Calvillo came free, but Vinicio Reneros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Klimovich Aballe in the 46th minute of play forced Calabi's goalkeeper Vinicio Reneros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Liga de Ecuador's Edinho Velloso got control of the ball when Johnny Ayarza tried to sneak it across the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Renán Donis to make the kick off. Fabian Calvillo struck a weak shot in the 51st minute. The Calabi fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Vinicio Reneros should have stopped the shot. After 80 minutes, Klimovich Aballe made it 0-6 with a short kick to the right side. Calabi's Vinicio Reneros tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Bernard Miarka hit a great ball. 96 minutes into the game, Calle Argüero was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Calabi's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Liga de Ecuador the free kick. After 96 played minutes Calabi got a freekick which was hit by Calle Argüero. In the 97th minute, Fabian Calvillo fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Vinicio Reneros, passed just outside the right post.
