Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Murillo Langarica started the match with the kick off. If Xinaro Brugos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Agualonguito getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Lisandro Arriba hit a great ball. Emelec's Murillo Langarica got a good chance for a goal in the 6th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The referee felt a red card was in order, 9 minutes into the game, when Almandoz Trancoso put in a rough tackle. In the 10th minute, Almandoz Trancoso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Murillo Langarica came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the Emelec fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Murillo Langarica couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Agualonguito's Cordero Mieses got a free kick in the 18th minute. After 19 minutes, Murillo Langarica made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Agualonguito's Vera Cuerno tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Murillo Langarica fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vera Cuerno having to interfere. If Murillo Langarica had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Murillo Langarica struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Vera Cuerno didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Emelec. 41 minutes into the match, Agualonguito's goal looked a bit too open when Mane Verda came free, but Vera Cuerno reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A hard shot 42 in the game by Murillo Langarica from a close distance when the talented Vera Cuerno managed to make a qualified save. Agualonguito's players were relieved. Neicer Bueres made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Xzaiver Mexia in the 46th minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Agualonguito were awarded a corner in the 54th minute after Emelec's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Cordero Mieses took the corner. After some careless play in the Agualonguito defense, Murillo Langarica kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Vera Cuerno. The Agualonguito fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Vera Cuerno should have stopped the shot. Murillo Langarica recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Vera Cuerno stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mane Verda's shot from short distance in the 69th minute. 75 minutes into the match, Murillo Langarica notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of Agualonguito's Vera Cuerno. Vera Cuerno was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 84th match minute, Agualonguito was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Julio Campano to maneuver through the defense. After recieving a nice pass, Emelec's Xinaro Brugos tried to score from far away in the 85th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. When Emelec's Murillo Langarica in the 90th minute got a chance for a shot 90th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Agualonguito's goalie prevented a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paredes Domingo in the 95th minute of play forced Agualonguito's goalkeeper Vera Cuerno to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Emelec walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
