Manolo Cuartas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 8 minutes into the match, COBRAS FC's goalkeeper Manolo Cuartas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ricardo Barreda. When Ricardo Barreda came up free with the goalie in the 10th minute, the CD Guallabamba fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ricardo Barreda couldn't finish the play. If Zoilo Lezarazo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vitin Sobero made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sotomayor Poblaciones in the 15th minute of play. 22 minutes into the match, CD Guallabamba's Ricardo Barreda sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Manolo Cuartas narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 23 played minutes COBRAS FC got a freekick which was hit by Cruz Campesino. In the 26th minute Sotomayor Poblaciones shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vitin Sobero saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Sotomayor Poblaciones managed to get in a good position for a shot. COBRAS FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Sotomayor Poblaciones was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vitin Sobero breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 29th minute of the match Zoil Arregui sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Vitin Sobero skillfully saved the ball. After a defensive mix-up in CD Guallabamba's zone, Zoilo Lezarazo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vitin Sobero came out of the goal and Zoilo Lezarazo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Washington Llantada received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Manolo Cuartas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sotomayor Poblaciones stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute, Ricardo Barreda got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 57 minutes into the match, CD Guallabamba's Ricardo Barreda sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Manolo Cuartas narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 68th minute, Cruz Campesino hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 69 minutes in the game, Washington Llantada dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Ricardo Barreda fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manolo Cuartas having to interfere. CD Guallabamba's Vitin Sobero played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sotomayor Poblaciones in the 77th minute of play. After 79 minutes, Víctor Estebanez mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the CD Guallabamba and the COBRAS FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
