Dynamo FC Guayaquil's Pablo Salazano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Yambay Urigarri in the 10th minute of play. Carlos-Alberto Alari made an important save on a dangerous shot by Vasco Farto in the 12th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Otavalo S.C.'s zone, Santiago Viles stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Carlos-Alberto Alari came out of the goal and Santiago Viles tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Christobal Peñarroja came up free with the goalie in the 17th minute, the Dynamo FC Guayaquil fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Christobal Peñarroja couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Santiago Viles in the 18th minute of play forced Otavalo S.C.'s goalkeeper Carlos-Alberto Alari to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Vasco Farto managed to get in a good position for a shot. Dynamo FC Guayaquil's supporters rose to their feet, but Vasco Farto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Carlos-Alberto Alari breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Flavio Raedo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Flavio Raedo was the one to do the kick off. Candelario Antuñano charged in rather forcefully in the 95th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Candelario Antuñano the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Lucio Sigler fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 98th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pablo Salazano having to interfere. The Otavalo S.C. players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
