Vilgot Lindqvist showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Morales Morquecho, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. 11 minutes into the match, C.S. Emelec's goal looked a bit too open when Klimovich Rubiero came free, but Uriel Davalos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 14 minutes into the match, Klimovich Rubiero had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Uriel Davalos. C.S. Emelec's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Klimovich Rubiero was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Emelec's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Omar Sanjuan helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, UD Alpes's Omar Sanjuan got a free kick in the 33rd minute. George Borcea received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. After a defensive mix-up in C.S. Emelec's zone, George Borcea stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. If George Borcea had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 80th match minute, C.S. Emelec was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Armando Maleta to maneuver through the defense. UD Alpes's George Borcea managed to work through C.S. Emelec's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. George Borcea dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. Vilgot Lindqvist took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rosario Anton, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. UD Alpes played a much better game than C.S. Emelec and deserved their victory. The C.S. Emelec players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
