An unexpectedly hard shot by Raimundo Melendo in the 13th minute of play forced Iluminati AIK's goalkeeper Angelo Montano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Raimundo Melendo struck a weak shot in the 15th minute. Angelo Montano didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Liga de Quito. Iluminati AIK's Carlos-Armando Rojica got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Fortunato Ricote fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Liga de Quito's protests and gave Fortunato Ricote a yellow card for diving instead. 26 minutes into the match, Iluminati AIK's goal looked a bit too open when Raimundo Melendo came free, but Angelo Montano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Costante Neira fell near the penalty area in the 33rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Iluminati AIK's protests and gave Costante Neira a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Iluminati AIK's Costante Neira got a free kick in the 33rd minute. 34 minutes into the match, Liga de Quito's Ubelteso Pascalin broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. If Raimundo Melendo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Raimundo Melendo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Costante Neira kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. In the 47th minute, Raimundo Melendo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Angelo Montano was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1.

Maximiliano Buedo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Angelo Montano having to interfere. Fortunato Ricote might have been able to make a better finish in the 56th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Angelo Montano. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Fortunato Ricote ran back to his position shaking his head. De-la-Cruz Tamaron hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. Ubelteso Pascalin, 58 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. After having played for 60 minutes, De-la-Cruz Tamaron managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Iluminati AIK's supporters crossed their fingers, but De-la-Cruz Tamaron was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Liga de Quito's zone, Carlos-Armando Rojica stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Francisco Chirino came out of the goal and Carlos-Armando Rojica tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Raimundo Melendo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. A hard shot 71 in the game by Raimundo Melendo from a close distance when the talented Angelo Montano managed to make a qualified save. Iluminati AIK's players were relieved. The crowd rose to their feet as Liga de Quito's Fortunato Ricote slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Angelo Montano. That made the score 0-2 after 72 minutes of play. In the 75th match minute, Liga de Quito was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Xinto Canillas to maneuver through the defense. Carlos-Armando Rojica received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Francisco Chirino tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. De-la-Cruz Tamaron was shown his second yellow card after 85 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Angelo Montano made a fantastic save in the 86th minute, when Raimundo Melendo sent off a good shot on target. Carlos-Armando Rojica received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Francisco Chirino tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Raimundo Melendos short, quick shot in the 94thth minute got Angelo Montano to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 97 minutes into the match, Iluminati AIK's goal looked a bit too open when Fortunato Ricote came free, but Angelo Montano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Liga de Quito walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
