Spectators: 6816 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1672, VIP seats: 144) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Aires Bueno took the kick off in the first half of the match. Martin Barruso hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. Santiago Recondo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Vistruario Contero tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 12 minutes into the match, Rodriguez Boliaga had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Franco Alcega. C.S. Emelec's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Rodriguez Boliaga was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Segundo Peñarroja managed to get in a good position for a shot. C.S. Emelec's supporters rose to their feet, but Segundo Peñarroja was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vistruario Contero breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Santiago Recondo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Vistruario Contero tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Santiago Recondo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vistruario Contero having to interfere. CD Galapagos's Vistruario Contero played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Santiago Recondo in the 30th minute of play. A collision led to CD Galapagos getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Rodriguez Boliaga hit a great ball. If Wilfredo Lacalle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Aires Bueno sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Wilfredo Lacalle recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Wilfredo Lacalle to make the kick off. C.S. Emelec's Wilfredo Lacalle got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Aurelio Maldonado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Martin Barruso hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. The referee felt a red card was in order, 69 minutes into the game, when Simon Machin put in a rough tackle. The supporters of C.S. Emelec booed when CD Galapagos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Simon Machin didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 73rd minute Santiago Recondo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vistruario Contero saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Aurelio Maldonado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, CD Galapagos's Vistruario Contero got control of the ball when Wilfredo Lacalle tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 97 played minutes C.S. Emelec got a freekick which was hit by Wilfredo Lacalle. C.S. Emelec played a much better game than CD Galapagos and deserved their victory. The CD Galapagos players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
