The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 26th minute Santiago Recondo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jeremias Artigue saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Cirquelo's Jeremias Artigue got control of the ball when Wilfredo Lacalle tried to sneak it across the goal line. C.S. Emelec's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cirquelo the free kick. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Unax Vives made a kick off. Jeremias Artigue showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wilfredo Lacalle, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. Santiago Recondo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Jeremias Artigue tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 62ndth minute of the game Wilfredo Lacalle who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Cirquelo's Jeremias Artigue was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 67 minutes into the match, Cirquelo's goal looked a bit too open when Santiago Recondo came free, but Jeremias Artigue reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 68th minute, Wilfredo Lacalle managed to get in a good position for a shot. C.S. Emelec's supporters rose to their feet, but Wilfredo Lacalle was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jeremias Artigue breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 70 minutes into the match, Cirquelo's goal looked a bit too open when Wilfredo Lacalle came free, but Jeremias Artigue reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Xelo Bausa charged in rather forcefully in the 72nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. In the 90th minute, Wilfredo Lacalle made a precise shot to the right of Jeremias Artigue. Cirquelo's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. In the 94th minute, Wilfredo Lacalle got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 96 minutes into the game, C.S. Emelec's Joaquin Juarez nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jeremias Artigue made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. C.S. Emelec fully deserved thier win.
