Spectators: 7406 (Terracing: 5555, Seating: 1703, VIP seats: 148) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Zorion Narbona made the kick off which started today's match. 5 minutes into the match, Plinio Sporting Club's goal looked a bit too open when Emilio Viya came free, but José Baltanas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Zorion Narbona came up free with the goalie in the 10th minute, the CS.EMELEC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zorion Narbona couldn't finish the play. José Baltanas came out of the goal in the 12th minute to try and stop a shot by CS.EMELEC's Justavino Mier. But to his dismay, Justavino Mier quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. José Baltanas didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Zorion Narbona went, in the 18th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ivan Irabien in the 21st minute of play forced CS.EMELEC's goalkeeper Xusto Biñayo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. García Torralba could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 22nd minute of the match, but Xusto Biñayo made a huge save. In the 26th minute Emilio Viya shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José Baltanas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Plinio Sporting Club's Zosimo Chagavia got a free kick in the 26th minute. After a defensive mix-up in CS.EMELEC's zone, Diego Vuelva stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Xusto Biñayo came out of the goal and Diego Vuelva tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Zorion Narbona had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 38 minutes into the match, Zorion Narbona notched a goal, 0-4, to the right of Plinio Sporting Club's José Baltanas. José Baltanas was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 43 minutes into the match, Plinio Sporting Club's goal looked a bit too open when Justavino Mier came free, but José Baltanas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half CS.EMELEC were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ivan Irabien made a kick off. Justavino Mier sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ivan Irabien in the 60th minute of play forced CS.EMELEC's goalkeeper Xusto Biñayo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Emilio Viya had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Zorion Narbona in the 63rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg José Baltanas saved Plinio Sporting Club from getting behind. In the 72ndth minute of the game Zorion Narbona who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Plinio Sporting Club's José Baltanas was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Xusto Biñayo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ivan Irabien in the 75th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ivan Irabien in the 77th minute of play forced CS.EMELEC's goalkeeper Xusto Biñayo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 79 played minutes CS.EMELEC got a freekick which was hit by Emilio Viya. Plinio Sporting Club's Alfonso Zayas got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 82nd match minute, CS.EMELEC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Emilio Viya to maneuver through the defense. Xusto Biñayo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Diego Vuelva, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Xusto Biñayo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from García Torralba in the 86th minute of play. Xusto Biñayo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zosimo Chagavia in the 87th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Plinio Sporting Club defense, Zorion Narbona kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of José Baltanas. The Plinio Sporting Club fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that José Baltanas should have stopped the shot. In the 96th minute of the match, Emilio Viya got a very nice opportunity to score, but José Baltanas was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. 96 minutes into the match, Plinio Sporting Club's goalkeeper José Baltanas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Emilio Viya.
