An unexpectedly hard shot by Franklin Robles in the 3rd minute of play forced Atar SC's goalkeeper Vachon Garival to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 4 minutes into the game, one of Atar SC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. 6 minutes into the game, Ismael Benites cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Vachon Garival was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 9th minute the ball was on its way in behind El Valle de los Chillos's goalkeeper Armando Deza, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Javier Cabañero scored 1-1 in the 9th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Armando Deza, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Carlos Domenec received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Armando Deza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 19th minute, Czeslaw Golob hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Roque Balderrama came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Atar SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Roque Balderrama couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Atar SC booed when El Valle de los Chillos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Xaver Soveron didn't get a good kick on the ball. Javier Cabañero sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Franklin Robles received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Vachon Garival came out and tried to block the shot, but Franklin Robles slotted it home off the left post making it 2-1 in the 32nd minute. 35 minutes into the match, Atar SC's goalkeeper Vachon Garival had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Demetrio Villafañe. An unexpectedly hard shot by Blandón Meldasgoas in the 36th minute of play forced Atar SC's goalkeeper Vachon Garival to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 39 minutes into the match, Atar SC's goal looked a bit too open when Franklin Robles came free, but Vachon Garival reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Demetrio Villafañe could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 43rd minute of the match, but Vachon Garival made a huge save. Atar SC were furious when Rubio Cembraña was red carded, 45 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

Roque Balderrama might have been able to make a better finish in the 53rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Armando Deza. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Roque Balderrama ran back to his position shaking his head. After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Roque Balderrama managed to get in a good position for a shot. Atar SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Roque Balderrama was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Armando Deza breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Carlos Domenec sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Atar SC's Roque Balderrama got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Roque Balderrama's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Armando Deza read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 68th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Franklin Robles in the 70th minute of play forced Atar SC's goalkeeper Vachon Garival to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. El Valle de los Chillos's Armando Deza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Roque Balderrama in the 72nd minute of play. Roque Balderrama struck a weak shot in the 72nd minute. Armando Deza didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Atar SC. After a defensive mix-up in El Valle de los Chillos's zone, Olaf Jaworski stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Armando Deza came out of the goal and Olaf Jaworski tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Carlos Domenec came up free with the goalie in the 76th minute, the Atar SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Carlos Domenec couldn't finish the play. In the 79th minute, El Valle de los Chillos's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Salas Cerio fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Carlos Domenec sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a left leg Armando Deza saved El Valle de los Chillos from getting behind. 88 minutes into the match, Atar SC's Eduardo Caldueño sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Armando Deza narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Armando Deza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carlos Domenec, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Carlos Domenec had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 95th minute Eduardo Caldueño suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. 96 minutes into the game, Blandón Meldasgoas was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. El Valle de los Chillos's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Atar SC the free kick. A collision led to El Valle de los Chillos getting a freekick after 97 minutes play. Blandón Meldasgoas hit a great ball. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. El Valle de los Chillos were victorious despite being under pressure from Atar SC for much of the match.
