Rodolfo Peramato's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Estevez Mattei read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 9th minute of play. If Rodolfo Peramato had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rodolfo Peramato received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Estevez Mattei tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 39 minutes, Segio Belo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the JF Club and the C.S. Guayaquil Atletico players grew even worse after the yellow card. In a very dangerous position, a player in JF Club fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 39th minute. Penalty! In the 41st minute there was a penalty for C.S. Guayaquil Atletico. Félix Huercanos stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Estevez Mattei. 2-0. Through an outstanding action, after 43 minutes, Estevez Mattei successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Ovando Aubert might have been able to make a better finish in the 45th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Calle Davalillo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ovando Aubert ran back to his position shaking his head. Agustín Montalvo struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Calle Davalillo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for JF Club. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Rodolfo Peramato to strike the kick off in the second half. Suscal Corrales kicked well hit freekick during the 50th minute of the match. If Rodrigo Vilas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Estevez Mattei prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Suscal Corrales's late challenge caught a C.S. Guayaquil Atletico's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Suscal Corrales helped the player get up and apologised. Suscal Corrales kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. Estevez Mattei made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rodolfo Peramato in the 79th minute of play. Hurtado Gutarrate sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ovando Aubert showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-1. Suscal Corrales recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 92nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The C.S. Guayaquil Atletico players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
