In the 21st minute, Diaz Zubeldia got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. UD Tamaute's Roque Olivencia got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. UD Tamaute's Viteri Valdez proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 29th minute of the match, managed to save UD Tamaute from getting a goal against them. Diaz Zubeldia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Viteri Valdez having to interfere. 33 minutes into the match, CD Gualaqui's Diaz Zubeldia sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Viteri Valdez narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Fernando Pola recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 35th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience was convinced that Diaz Zubeldia's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Viteri Valdez was relentless in the 42nd minute of the game. After having played for 60 minutes, Zumar Saro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. UD Tamaute's supporters crossed their fingers, but Zumar Saro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 64 played minutes CD Gualaqui got a freekick which was hit by Valencia Hortiz. Eugenio Guate made a fantastic save in the 66th minute, when Ulises Lereira sent off a good shot on target. Diaz Zubeldia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Viteri Valdez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Viteri Valdez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Diaz Zubeldia in the 69th minute of the match. Diaz Zubeldia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Villafuerte Avina hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. After recieving a nice pass, CD Gualaqui's Valencia Hortiz tried to score from far away in the 79th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. When Diaz Zubeldia came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the CD Gualaqui fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Diaz Zubeldia couldn't finish the play. After some careless play in the UD Tamaute defense, Fernando Pola kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Viteri Valdez. The UD Tamaute fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Viteri Valdez should have stopped the shot. Roque Olivencia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 96th minute, Valencia Hortiz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Eugenio Guate made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zumar Saro in the 98th minute of play. There was no doubt that CD Gualaqui were the better team. CD Gualaqui's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
