In the 5th minute, Cornelio Churruca got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Cornelio Churruca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of UD Mompiche booed when C.S. Emelec was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luzuriaga Meja didn't get a good kick on the ball. 13 minutes into the game, Gilson Teles cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Chiriboga Rilo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Zavior Pedolles hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Gilson Teles received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Chiriboga Rilo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gilson Teles in the 28th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Chiriboga Rilo saved UD Mompiche from getting behind. Chiriboga Rilo didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gilson Teles went, in the 33rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. If Cornelio Churruca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cornelio Churruca received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Chiriboga Rilo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, C.S. Emelec's Gilson Teles got a free kick in the 47th minute. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Camilo Mioño to make the kick off. Gilson Teles could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 51st minute of the match, but Chiriboga Rilo made a huge save. Edgar Arieta kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. If Cornelio Churruca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 61 minutes into the match, C.S. Emelec's goal looked a bit too open when Zavior Pedolles came free, but Uhin Cedeno reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, UD Mompiche's Chiriboga Rilo got control of the ball when Gilson Teles tried to sneak it across the goal line. Luzuriaga Meja received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Chiriboga Rilo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 73 minutes into the game, Gilson Teles cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Chiriboga Rilo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. UD Mompiche's Chiriboga Rilo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 76th minute of the match, managed to save UD Mompiche from getting a goal against them. Xofre Calona charged in rather forcefully in the 78th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Xofre Calona the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to UD Mompiche getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Xofre Calona hit a great ball. 79 minutes in the game, Cornelio Churruca fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Chiriboga Rilo having to interfere. Gilson Teles recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Cornelio Churruca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. If Gilson Teles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in UD Mompiche's zone, Luzuriaga Meja stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Chiriboga Rilo came out of the goal and Luzuriaga Meja tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. C.S. Emelec played a much better game than UD Mompiche and deserved their victory. The UD Mompiche players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
