With a little luck, Deportivo Cuenca's Yaniusky Ason got control of the ball when Eduardo Sopuerta tried to sneak it across the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alfredo Eibar during the 30th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Deportivo Cuenca getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Alfredo Eibar hit a great ball. Canas SC's Xulian Guazo shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 31st minute of play. The shot was stopped by Yaniusky Ason but with some difficulty. Urrutia Pagan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Calderón Cendan blasted a shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Brito Verda having to make a save. If Urrutia Pagan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Brito Verda showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Calderón Cendan, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

Deportivo Cuenca's Urrutia Pagan got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Calderón Cendan's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Brito Verda read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 56th minute of play. In the 62nd minute, Cotera Balderrama hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 63 minutes in the game German Mera after having made a beautiful turn got a great opportunity to score and fired away a shot that went just to the left past a relieved Brito Verda. A very good opportunity. In the 68th minute, Eduardo Sopuerta left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Canas SC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. After 71 played minutes Deportivo Cuenca got a freekick which was hit by Vistruario Aleson. In the 75th minute Hugo Aubert suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. German Mera's late challenge caught a Canas SC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. German Mera helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Deportivo Cuenca getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. German Mera hit a great ball. After 82 played minutes Deportivo Cuenca got a freekick which was hit by Erwin Esteve. Cotera Balderrama missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 84 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Yaniusky Ason right hand side. Ponce Peruyera hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. 86 minutes into the game, Cotera Balderrama was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Canas SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Deportivo Cuenca the free kick. After 87 played minutes Canas SC got a freekick which was hit by Cotera Balderrama. In the 90th minute of the match, Urrutia Pagan got a very nice opportunity to score, but Brito Verda was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Urrutia Pagan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Brito Verda tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When José-Francisco Govantes came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Deportivo Cuenca fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that José-Francisco Govantes couldn't finish the play. Eduardo Sopuerta kicked well hit freekick during the 97th minute of the match. In the 98th minute, German Mera sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Canas SC's Brito Verda didn't even have to move.
