Hernandez Guiral showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marquez Arce in the 5th minute of the match. In the 9th minute, Cornelio Abello hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match clock showed 16 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Walme Cabrerizo sped through July Fc's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Estrada Penas. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Juan-Carlos Calzon during the 19th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, July Fc's Juan-Carlos Calzon got a free kick in the 19th minute. In the 23rd minute, one of July Fc:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for July Fc. The referee gave Guayaquileños FC a penalty, 24 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by De-Jesús Pernau, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of July Fc's Estrada Penas. 0-2. In the 27th minute Walme Cabrerizo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Estrada Penas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Reyes Garces might have been able to make a better finish in the 31st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Hernandez Guiral. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Reyes Garces ran back to his position shaking his head. Marquez Arce recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 34th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Juan-Carlos Calzon received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Hernandez Guiral tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Walme Cabrerizo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Estrada Penas having to interfere. 42 minutes into the game, Carlos Martel was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. July Fc's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Guayaquileños FC the free kick. After 42 played minutes July Fc got a freekick which was hit by Carlos Martel. The audience was convinced that Alvarez Valdez's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Estrada Penas was relentless in the 44th minute of the game. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Alvarez Valdez made a kick off. Carlos Martel's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Hernandez Guiral read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 61st minute of play. Reyes Garces blasted a shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Hernandez Guiral having to make a save. In the 66th minute the ball was on its way in behind July Fc's goalkeeper Estrada Penas, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 67th minute, Carlos Martel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 70th minute, Walme Cabrerizo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When July Fc's Reyes Garces in the 74th minute got a chance for a shot 74th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Guayaquileños FC's goalie prevented a goal. After 76 minutes, Rafael Gatell mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Guayaquileños FC and the July Fc players grew even worse after the yellow card. If Reyes Garces had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Guayaquileños FC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
