Ubaldo Maiz scored 0-1 in the 4th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Texeira Rosabel, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Ambato UTD's Ubaldo Maiz got a good chance for a goal in the 8th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Ambato UTD's Trota Sella got a free kick in the 28th minute. With his leg Rodrigo Bonachea managed to avoid a goal in the 29thth minute, when Gulas SC's Jaramillo Urrutia fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Rodrigo Bonachea made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Klimowitz Alvarez in the 30th minute of play. Ubaldo Maiz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Texeira Rosabel having to interfere. In the 39th minute, Ubaldo Maiz left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ambato UTD fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. After having played for 48 minutes, Ubaldo Maiz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ambato UTD's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ubaldo Maiz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Ubaldo Maiz made the kick off in the second half. After 53 minutes, Hugo Albarez mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gulas SC and the Ambato UTD players grew even worse after the yellow card. Hugo Albarez hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Ubaldo Maiz managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ambato UTD's supporters rose to their feet, but Ubaldo Maiz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Texeira Rosabel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With splendid footwork Urtun Gabilondo arrived in front of goal to shoot 0-5 by the left pole in the game's 58th minute. In the 62nd match minute, Gulas SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Santiago Perramon to maneuver through the defense. In the 64th minute, Ambato UTD's Ubaldo Maiz dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-6. Ubaldo Maiz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Texeira Rosabel having to interfere. In the 68th minute, Urtun Gabilondo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ambato UTD fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-7. In the 71st minute Klimowitz Alvarez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rodrigo Bonachea saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ambato UTD's Rodrigo Bonachea played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jaramillo Urrutia in the 73rd minute of play. Texeira Rosabel was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Ubaldo Maiz showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-8 in the 75 minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ubaldo Maiz in the 78th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Texeira Rosabel prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 81st minute Ubaldo Maiz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Texeira Rosabel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Ubaldo Maiz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Flavio Arras struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Texeira Rosabel didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ambato UTD. After a defensive mix-up in Gulas SC's zone, Ubaldo Maiz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Texeira Rosabel came out of the goal and Ubaldo Maiz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Flavio Arras fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Texeira Rosabel having to interfere. Ubaldo Maiz struck a weak shot in the 97th minute. Texeira Rosabel didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ambato UTD. When the final whistle sounded Ambato UTD left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Gulas SC.
