After 10 minutes, Claudio Mascire made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Inter de Portoviejo's Nando Mazorra tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 13th minute, Xano Artieta managed to get in a good position for a shot. Inter de Portoviejo's supporters rose to their feet, but Xano Artieta was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Teo Moroño breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to La Naranja Mecánica ® getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Alfonso Lavet hit a great ball. Teo Moroño made a fantastic save in the 19th minute, when Xano Artieta sent off a good shot on target. Teo Moroño came out of the goal in the 27th minute to try and stop a shot by Inter de Portoviejo's Xano Artieta. But to his dismay, Xano Artieta quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Edison Lasa struck a weak shot in the 30th minute. Teo Moroño didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Inter de Portoviejo. Xano Artieta recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 32nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Xano Artieta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Teo Moroño having to interfere. Diaz Palenzuela charged in rather forcefully in the 38th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Diaz Palenzuela the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Inter de Portoviejo booed when La Naranja Mecánica ® was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Diaz Palenzuela didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Claudio Mascire in the 42nd minute of play forced Inter de Portoviejo's goalkeeper Nando Mazorra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Claudio Mascire to make the kick off. Nando Mazorra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Claudio Mascire, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 59th minute, Xano Artieta got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Claudio Mascire had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Claudio Mascire in the 65th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nando Mazorra prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A collision led to Inter de Portoviejo getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Walter Canellas hit a great ball. Teo Moroño showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Xano Artieta, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. When Teo Quiroz fell near the penalty area in the 72nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored La Naranja Mecánica ®'s protests and gave Teo Quiroz a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, La Naranja Mecánica ®'s Teo Quiroz got a free kick in the 72nd minute. In the 78th minute, Xano Artieta ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Teo Moroño was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. La Naranja Mecánica ®'s attentive Manolo Perdices managed to snatch the ball when Teofilio Monelo made a throw-in in the 86th minute of the game. With an all-out effort, La Naranja Mecánica ®'s Nando Mazorra threw himself towards the right post 86 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Claudio Mascire, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Inter de Portoviejo's Nando Mazorra played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Claudio Mascire in the 89th minute of play. When La Naranja Mecánica ®'s Claudio Mascire in the 94th minute got a chance for a shot 94th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Inter de Portoviejo's goalie prevented a goal. Zeledon Cimbrelo hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Claudio Mascire in the 98th minute of play forced Inter de Portoviejo's goalkeeper Nando Mazorra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. For all the effort they put into the match, the La Naranja Mecánica ® players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Inter de Portoviejo.
