The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Zilar Barcena to strike the kick off in the second half. Fausto Teijon blasted a shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Silvio Morelo having to make a save. Silvio Morelo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Arnoldo Yerro in the 54th minute of the match. A collision led to Liga de Quito getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Dennis Tabliega hit a great ball. In the 96th minute, UD Chavay's Diego Marin seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Diego Marin the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of UD Chavay protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Diego Marin had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Rodrigo Ayllon walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. UD Chavay played a much better game than Liga de Quito and deserved their victory. The Liga de Quito players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
