The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, Inter de Portoviejo's Omar Casaponsa got a free kick in the 9th minute. After 12 minutes, Oswaldo Olea mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Inter de Portoviejo and the Gualaceo FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 12 played minutes Inter de Portoviejo got a freekick which was hit by Oswaldo Olea. 15 minutes into the game, Gualaceo FC's Osvaldo Olivos nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Richard Abeita made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Richard Abeita showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcelo Oromi in the 18th minute of the match. Xantalen Acebedo kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. Clemente Pardeo kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. In the 22nd minute, Quintana Haedo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 31st minute Xantalen Acebedo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Richard Abeita saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Inter de Portoviejo's Omar Casaponsa got a free kick in the 37th minute. Gualaceo FC's Xantalen Acebedo got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cruz Ronda recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Agostinho Prestes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Omar Casaponsa in the 41st minute of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Xantalen Acebedo to strike the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Inter de Portoviejo's Quintana Haedo got a free kick in the 51st minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Osvaldo Olivos managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gualaceo FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Osvaldo Olivos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Richard Abeita breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 54th minute, Xantalen Acebedo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 55th minute, Marcelo Oromi managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gualaceo FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Marcelo Oromi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Richard Abeita breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 57th minute, Gualaceo FC's Xantalen Acebedo dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-2. In the 61st minute, Xantalen Acebedo made a precise shot to the right of Richard Abeita. Inter de Portoviejo's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. Cruz Ronda fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Agostinho Prestes having to interfere. Thanks to some nice moves Marcelo Oromi could shoot a difficult shot in the 71st minute, which Richard Abeita however easily saved by the left post. With splendid footwork Xantalen Acebedo arrived in front of goal to shoot 0-4 by the left pole in the game's 72nd minute. 83 minutes into the match, Inter de Portoviejo's goal looked a bit too open when Xantalen Acebedo came free, but Richard Abeita reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Xantalen Acebedo got free with Richard Abeita in the 84th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Richard Abeita showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Xantalen Acebedo in the 88th minute of the match. In the 89th minute, Gualaceo FC's Thiago de Andrade ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Richard Abeita. Richard Abeita yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-5. In the 92nd minute of the match Osvaldo Olivos shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Richard Abeita showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The Gualaceo FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Gualaceo FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
