Gavica Cardeño charged in rather forcefully in the 3rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee ignored Guayaquil City's protests and gave Jacinto Artaza a yellow card for diving instead. Jacinto Artaza kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. In the 7th minute of the match Gavica Cardeño sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but David Avalos skillfully saved the ball. David Avalos didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Villarreal Lordaliego went, in the 11th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. David Avalos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Villarreal Lordaliego, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. Villarreal Lordaliego fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without David Avalos having to interfere. 21 minutes into the match, Guayaquil City's goal looked a bit too open when Klimowitz Rescuro came free, but David Avalos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Guayaquil City defense, Villarreal Lordaliego kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of David Avalos. The Guayaquil City fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that David Avalos should have stopped the shot. After 27 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Guayaquil City! In the 28th minute there was a penalty for Celeste Fútbol Club. Gavica Cardeño stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving David Avalos. 1-3. In the 31st minute Klimowitz Rescuro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but David Avalos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 32 minutes of play, Celeste Fútbol Club's Villarreal Lordaliego made it 1-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. David Avalos was left in no man's land by his defense there! A collision led to Celeste Fútbol Club getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Villarreal Lordaliego hit a great ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Adrian Franquesa during the 35th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Celeste Fútbol Club booed when Guayaquil City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adrian Franquesa didn't get a good kick on the ball. David Avalos came out of the goal in the 36th minute to try and stop a shot by Celeste Fútbol Club's Burbano Orallo. But to his dismay, Burbano Orallo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-5. Facundo Abendano struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. David Avalos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Celeste Fútbol Club. David Avalos came out of the goal in the 43rd minute to try and stop a shot by Celeste Fútbol Club's Villarreal Lordaliego. But to his dismay, Villarreal Lordaliego quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-6. 47 minutes into the match, Burbano Orallo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of David Avalos. Guayaquil City's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Burbano Orallo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-7. The Guayaquil City players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Celeste Fútbol Club were winning 1-7.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Vigil Garcidueñas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Cristian Artes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Guayaquil City booed when Celeste Fútbol Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Facundo Abendano didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Klimowitz Rescuro came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the Celeste Fútbol Club fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Klimowitz Rescuro couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Guayaquil City getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Adrian Franquesa hit a great ball. Segio Guerrero kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Guayaquil City's Jacinto Artaza got a free kick in the 93rd minute. Celeste Fútbol Club's Gavica Cardeño got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Celeste Fútbol Club's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
