After 8 played minutes Los Toreros got a freekick which was hit by Morales Guridi. In the 11th minute, Libertad Virues ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Vitin Cagigas was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Roque Martino kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. 24 minutes into the game, one of Emelec SC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Wilfredo Bertiz hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. In the 44th minute of the match Ugutz Zuloaga sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Vergaray Coronado skillfully saved the ball. A sloppy throw-in by Orfilio Campelo in the 47th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Los Toreros's Morales Guridi.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Oscar Leza stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, Los Toreros's goal looked a bit too open when Ximenes Palma came free, but Vergaray Coronado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Roque Martino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Morales Guridi made in the 66th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Darío Robles immediately put the ball in play. Dannes Magdaleno hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. Vitin Cagigas didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 70th minute, which inside left pole to 0-4. Vilson Buyolo's late challenge caught a Los Toreros's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vilson Buyolo helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Emelec SC getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Vilson Buyolo hit a great ball. After recieving a nice pass, Los Toreros's Christian Bazo tried to score from far away in the 75th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. If Roque Martino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 81 minutes into the game, Marcos Cardet was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Los Toreros's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Emelec SC the free kick. After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Ximenes Palma managed to get in a good position for a shot. Emelec SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Ximenes Palma was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vergaray Coronado breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Roque Martino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vergaray Coronado having to interfere. Vitin Cagigas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Christian Bazo, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. When the final whistle sounded Los Toreros left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Emelec SC.
