Peter Portochao made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cotera Cañas in the 12th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcelo Alcubilla in the 14th minute of play forced Sao FC's goalkeeper Teofilio Ubago to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marcelo Alcubilla could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 18th minute of the match, but Teofilio Ubago made a huge save. Sociedad Deportiva León's Peter Portochao played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Urki Herquinigo in the 21st minute of play. Ataulfo Cerezo's late challenge caught a Sociedad Deportiva León's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ataulfo Cerezo helped the player get up and apologised. Teofilio Ubago made an important save on a dangerous shot by Xines Teran in the 29th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Xines Teran managed to get in a good position for a shot.
