The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. CD Guallagro's Jimmy Iruretagoyena got a good chance for a goal in the 5th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jimmy Iruretagoyena in the 13th minute of play forced GiudeCCa's goalkeeper Ramiro Mendivil to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 17 minutes into the match, GiudeCCa's goal looked a bit too open when Uxio Oñez came free, but Ramiro Mendivil reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jimmy Iruretagoyena's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ramiro Mendivil read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 18th minute of play. After some careless play in the GiudeCCa defense, Jimmy Iruretagoyena kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ramiro Mendivil. The GiudeCCa fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ramiro Mendivil should have stopped the shot. In the 25th match minute, CD Guallagro was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arturo Ahelle to maneuver through the defense. Humberto Carvajal hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. After having played for 36 minutes, Victoriano Viguri managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. GiudeCCa's supporters crossed their fingers, but Victoriano Viguri was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ramiro Mendivil made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Uxio Oñez in the 43rd minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jimmy Iruretagoyena was the one to do the kick off. GiudeCCa's Ramiro Mendivil proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 52nd minute of the match, managed to save GiudeCCa from getting a goal against them. Uxio Oñez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 57th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 60th minute, Vitin Santianes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of GiudeCCa booed when CD Guallagro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Christian Sanz didn't get a good kick on the ball. 91 minutes into the game, GiudeCCa's Ramiro Ibisate nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Criban Goyanes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1.
