The referee ignored Independiente de Quito's protests and gave Santos Albarellos a yellow card for diving instead. Santos Albarellos kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. Independiente de Quito's Anangonó Jaen got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 61 minutes into the game, Tenorio Delgadillo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player.
