The crowd rose to their feet as Independiente de Quito's Ferrer Fito slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Criban Goyanes. That made the score 0-2 after 54 minutes of play. In the 57th match minute, Independiente de Quito was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ferrer Fito to maneuver through the defense. Jimmy Iruretagoyena received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Vasco Codina tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Loco Surga charged in rather forcefully in the 60th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Loco Surga the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of CD Guallagro booed when Independiente de Quito was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Loco Surga didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in CD Guallagro's zone, Anangonó Jaen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Criban Goyanes came out of the goal and Anangonó Jaen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Independiente de Quito's Loco Surga got his second yellow card of the match in the 74th minute. The referee ordered Loco Surga off the ground. Criban Goyanes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Anangonó Jaen in the 80th minute of the match. The supporters of CD Guallagro booed when Independiente de Quito was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Delgado Serantes didn't get a good kick on the ball. 92 minutes into the game, CD Guallagro's Trota Lamboy nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Vasco Codina made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. Independiente de Quito played a much better game than CD Guallagro and deserved their victory. The CD Guallagro players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
