West Town SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave CD Guallagro the free kick. In the 17th minute Christian Sanz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Urtsin Ramon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, West Town SC's Gustavo Doblas got a free kick in the 23rd minute. If Juan-Carlos Gadañon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of West Town SC booed when CD Guallagro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jimmy Iruretagoyena didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 41st minute, Maximo Teberga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. West Town SC's Urtsin Ramon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jimmy Iruretagoyena in the 50th minute of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Maximo Teberga was the one to do the kick off. In the 55th minute, Maximo Teberga got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jimmy Iruretagoyena in the 61st minute of play forced West Town SC's goalkeeper Urtsin Ramon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 63rd minute the ball was on its way in behind CD Guallagro's goalkeeper Criban Goyanes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. West Town SC's Urtsin Ramon proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 65th minute of the match, managed to save West Town SC from getting a goal against them. In the 66th minute, one of CD Guallagro:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for CD Guallagro. In the 67th minute there was a penalty for West Town SC. Maximo Teberga stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Criban Goyanes. 1-0. In the 70th minute, Ubelteso Luengas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Trota Lamboy received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Urtsin Ramon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Juan-Carlos Gadañon came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the West Town SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Juan-Carlos Gadañon couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Jimmy Iruretagoyena managed to get in a good position for a shot. CD Guallagro's supporters rose to their feet, but Jimmy Iruretagoyena was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Urtsin Ramon breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 92 minutes of play, CD Guallagro's Uxio Oñez made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Urtsin Ramon was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a defensive mix-up in CD Guallagro's zone, Maximo Teberga stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Criban Goyanes came out of the goal and Maximo Teberga tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
