Xoan Rivadeneira kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. The River Plate fans' excitement grew in the 22nd match minute when River Plate's Ignacio Lauro looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After 25 played minutes Club Deportivo Logroño got a freekick which was hit by Valdo Fitado. George Catalan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Stalin Cabezuela in the 32nd minute of the match. 37 minutes into the game, River Plate's Rafael de la Rosa nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. George Catalan made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. After 39 minutes of play, River Plate's Stalin Cabezuela made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. George Catalan was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 42 played minutes River Plate got a freekick which was hit by Etienne Primavera. Vito Maia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Roberto Bermudo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Xicu Feliciano during the 45th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Xicu Feliciano hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. Rafael de la Rosa kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ignacio Lauro made a kick off. After some careless play in the River Plate defense, Vito Maia kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Roberto Bermudo. The River Plate fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Roberto Bermudo should have stopped the shot. 57 minutes into the match, Club Deportivo Logroño's goal looked a bit too open when Stalin Cabezuela came free, but George Catalan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Stalin Cabezuela in the 59th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck George Catalan prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 59th match minute, Club Deportivo Logroño was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Calisto Negrete to maneuver through the defense. 61 minutes into the game, Ignacio Lauro cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-4. George Catalan was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Stalin Cabezuela sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 69th minute, Ignacio Lauro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. George Catalan was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-5. After having played for 75 minutes, Wilmer Montealegre managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Club Deportivo Logroño's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wilmer Montealegre was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. River Plate's Jonatan Rioseco was substituted for Stalin Cabezuela. Jonatan Rioseco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without George Catalan having to interfere. In the 80th minute, Ignacio Lauro left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The River Plate fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-6. George Catalan made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ignacio Lauro in the 85th minute. 88 minutes into the game, Vito Maia cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-6. Roberto Bermudo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 92 minutes into the game, Xoan Rivadeneira was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. River Plate's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Club Deportivo Logroño the free kick. In the 93rd minute, Xoan Rivadeneira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the final whistle sounded River Plate left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Club Deportivo Logroño.
