Weeknunka's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Guayaquil S.C. the free kick. Carnero Piega hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. The supporters of Guayaquil S.C. booed when Weeknunka was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Timoteo Sancha didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Alexander Anduiza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 35th minute the ball was on its way in behind Guayaquil S.C.'s goalkeeper Xalvador Rodas, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Xalvador Rodas didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alexander Anduiza went, in the 41st minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. Xalvador Rodas stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Alexander Anduiza's shot from short distance in the 45th minute. When the match had gone on for 46 minutes, Xinaro Buitrago took a quick shot and it went in 3-1 without a chance for Xalvador Rodas to make any attempt to save it. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-1 at half-time.

Pedro Carredelo might have been able to make a better finish in the 53rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Xalvador Rodas. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Pedro Carredelo ran back to his position shaking his head. Xalvador Rodas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Xinaro Buitrago, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Pedro Carredelo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Xalvador Rodas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 59th minute, Alexander Anduiza managed to get in a good position for a shot. Weeknunka's supporters rose to their feet, but Alexander Anduiza was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Xalvador Rodas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Alexander Anduiza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Pedro Carredelo came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Weeknunka fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pedro Carredelo couldn't finish the play. After 74 minutes, Quiñónez Gacel mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Weeknunka and the Guayaquil S.C. players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 73rd minute, one of Weeknunka:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Weeknunka. In the 79th minute, Xinaro Buitrago hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 81 minutes into the game, Alexander Anduiza cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-2. Xalvador Rodas was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in.
