One of Guayaquil S.C.:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Sangay SC:s goal. When Camacho Arlines fell near the penalty area in the 22nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sangay SC's protests and gave Camacho Arlines a yellow card for diving instead. In the 22nd minute, Camacho Arlines hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With an all-out effort, Sangay SC's Xalvador Rodas threw himself towards the right post 32 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Pablo Feyto, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. A collision led to Guayaquil S.C. getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Urdaspal Aviñante hit a great ball. Kaviedes Ozores charged in rather forcefully in the 39th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Kaviedes Ozores the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Kaviedes Ozores hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. Xalvador Rodas was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Jesus Michel showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 41 minute of play. In the 44th match minute, Guayaquil S.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Diego Natos to maneuver through the defense. In the 45th minute of the match Roger Outon sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Xalvador Rodas skillfully saved the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

In the 52nd minute of the match Lastra Rufrancos shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Xalvador Rodas showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 54 minutes into the game, Gomez Ben cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Xalvador Rodas was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 62nd minute Marco Orden shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Xalvador Rodas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Xalvador Rodas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jesus Landa in the 71st minute of play. Guayaquil S.C.'s Xalvador Rodas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pablo Feyto in the 73rd minute of play. Xalvador Rodas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gomez Ben, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Xayveon Rua kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 80th minute, Roger Outon managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sangay SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Roger Outon was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Xalvador Rodas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 85 minutes into the match, Guayaquil S.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Jesus Michel came free, but Xalvador Rodas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 88 minutes of play, Sangay SC's Jesus Michel made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Xalvador Rodas was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Marco Orden in the 91st minute of play forced Guayaquil S.C.'s goalkeeper Xalvador Rodas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Jesus Michel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sangay SC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
