The audience was convinced that Garcia Jado's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Vasco Hurdinosa was relentless in the 12th minute of the game. Espinola Maestu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 17th minute of the match, but Chucho Dean made a huge save. In the 19th minute, Espinola Maestu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Vasco Hurdinosa had in the 22ndth minute some difficulties stopping Gustavo Oro's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. When the match clock showed 26 minutes, the score became 0-3 when Garcia Jado sped through Millonarios's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Vasco Hurdinosa. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Garcia Jado in the 31st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Vasco Hurdinosa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Garcia Jado in the 33rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Vasco Hurdinosa saved Millonarios from getting behind. When the match had gone on for 33 minutes, Garcia Jado put it in 0-4 from a short distance just to the right of Vasco Hurdinosa. 36 minutes into the match, Millonarios's goal looked a bit too open when Garcia Jado came free, but Vasco Hurdinosa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Eduardo Horna fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chucho Dean having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Garcia Jado in the 47th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Vasco Hurdinosa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After the first half Astillero del Guayas were leading 0-5. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Garcia Jado to strike the kick off in the second half. Garcia Jado could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 52nd minute of the match, but Vasco Hurdinosa made a huge save. Through an outstanding action, after 53 minutes, Vasco Hurdinosa successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Garcia Jado had several of the Millonarios's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 55 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-6 score and a disappointed Vasco Hurdinosa as he didn't even see the shot coming. 61 minutes into the match, Eduardo Horna had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Chucho Dean. Astillero del Guayas's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Eduardo Horna was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-6. With his leg Vasco Hurdinosa managed to avoid a goal in the 64thth minute, when Astillero del Guayas's Garcia Jado fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Johnny Falip lost his temper 66 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Millonarios fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 65th minute. Penalty! Eduardo Horna might have been able to make a better finish in the 77th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Chucho Dean. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Eduardo Horna ran back to his position shaking his head. Gustavo Oro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Vasco Hurdinosa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 80th minute of play. Vasco Hurdinosa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Paiva Escabi in the 81st minute of the match. After 84 played minutes Millonarios got a freekick which was hit by Hector Andia. Millonarios's Vasco Hurdinosa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 86th minute of the match, managed to save Millonarios from getting a goal against them. Vasco Hurdinosa stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Garcia Jado's shot from short distance in the 87th minute. Eduardo Horna hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. Garcia Jado sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match had gone on for 98 minutes, Garcia Jado took a quick shot and it went in 1-8 without a chance for Vasco Hurdinosa to make any attempt to save it. When the match was over Astillero del Guayas could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Millonarios throughout the match.
