But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gero Duro couldn't finish the play. Eduino Giraldez struck a weak shot in the 16th minute. Cleto Fortes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sibundoy. In the 46th match minute, Sibundoy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Platon Barzana to maneuver through the defense. After recieving a nice pass, Maracaibito's Mazuste Larena tried to score from far away in the 46th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Orlo Roig was the one to do the kick off. In the 53rd minute, Gero Duro reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Cleto Fortes. The goal made the score 0-2. In the 56th match minute, Maracaibito was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Peruxu Berria to maneuver through the defense. Orlo Roig fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leheren Boliaga having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Valentine España in the 70th minute of play forced Sibundoy's goalkeeper Leheren Boliaga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cleto Fortes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eduino Giraldez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Orlo Roig received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Leheren Boliaga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Valentine España sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Leheren Boliaga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valentine España in the 84th minute of play. In the 88th minute Orlo Roig shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leheren Boliaga saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 88 minutes, Platon Barzana mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sibundoy and the Maracaibito players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Sibundoy's Platon Barzana got a free kick in the 89th minute. The referee felt a red card was in order, 95 minutes into the game, when Mazuste Larena put in a rough tackle. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 94th minute of the game. One of Maracaibito:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Sibundoy:s goal. Cleto Fortes had in the 97thth minute some difficulties stopping Aimar Alcalde's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. When the match was over Sibundoy could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Maracaibito throughout the match.
