The nice shot from Zabal Rieta in the 14thth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Joseph Cerra had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. Ascencio Feliu hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. The audience cheered when Asur Orantes's long shot passed Santi Ampudia's right side. It was 0-1, 19 minutes into the match. In the 22nd minute, Haritzeder Brañas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Elvio Morua managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mejia's supporters rose to their feet, but Elvio Morua was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Santi Ampudia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Santi Ampudia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The supporters of Mejia booed when Salineros was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Obeko Gallo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Asur Orantes struck a weak shot in the 58th minute. Santi Ampudia didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mejia. In the 65thth minute of the game Haritzeder Brañas who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Salineros's Santi Ampudia was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Elvio Moruas short, quick shot in the 69thth minute got Santi Ampudia to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Salineros's Santi Ampudia proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 93rd minute of the match, managed to save Salineros from getting a goal against them. Joseph Cerra came out of the goal in the 94th minute to try and stop a shot by Salineros's Zabal Rieta. But to his dismay, Zabal Rieta quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3.
