After some fancy dribbling in the 12th minute, Mancio Pares managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cafeteros's supporters rose to their feet, but Mancio Pares was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marcelo Nougaro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Mancio Pares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 18th minute, Elvio Botas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 22 minutes into the match, Elvio Botas had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tanio Salina. Cafeteros's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Elvio Botas was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Cafeteros's Tulio Bañuelos got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Elvio Botas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Tanio Salina tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of BoG JVM booed when Cafeteros was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lesardo Urtubia didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tanio Salina took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Elvio Botas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Elvio Botas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cafeteros's Tanio Salina played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tono Benavente in the 74th minute of play. When Tono Benavente came up free with the goalie in the 76th minute, the BoG JVM fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tono Benavente couldn't finish the play. In the 78th minute Elvio Botas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tanio Salina saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
