Santikurtz Carreiras short, quick shot in the 16thth minute got Heriberto Casanoves to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. If Azibar Cerrudemos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 20th match minute, Toronto was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cebrian Launda to maneuver through the defense. Zoilo Posadillo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tavio Poz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Eguzki Mañaria hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tavio Poz was the one to do the kick off. Atarratze Imaz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Toronto's Heriberto Casanoves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Santikurtz Carreira in the 54th minute of play. Heriberto Casanoves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Maura Prelo in the 55th minute of the match. 59 minutes into the match, Azibar Cerrudemos notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of Toronto's Heriberto Casanoves. Heriberto Casanoves was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ernesto Melendez during the 65th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 88th minute, Oriche Trejo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 89th minute, Llanos Villalba hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Santikurtz Carreira came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the United States fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Santikurtz Carreira couldn't finish the play. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. United States had played much better football throughout.
