After 9 played minutes Luepa got a freekick which was hit by Frechoso Goya. Alvaro Balmori was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Ilixo Ballesteros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Honrio Jaraba tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Luepa's Felipe Valcuende got a free kick in the 16th minute. Felipe Valcuende hit a great ball. 31 minutes into the match, Frechoso Goya dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Alvaro Balmori, 2-0. When Quilino Mateos came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the Verdum fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Quilino Mateos couldn't finish the play. Ilixo Ballesteros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Honrio Jaraba tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Verdum booed when Luepa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felipe Valcuende didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eguen Barria's late challenge caught a Verdum's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Eguen Barria helped the player get up and apologised. Eguen Barria kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ellande Paya to make the kick off. In the 55th minute, Frechoso Goya got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Frechoso Goya had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ellande Paya blasted a shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Honrio Jaraba having to make a save. After recieving a nice pass, Verdum's Vicente Ranero tried to score from far away in the 69th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Ilixo Ballesteros recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 77 minutes into the match, Luepa's goal looked a bit too open when Ellande Paya came free, but Honrio Jaraba reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Honrio Jaraba made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ilixo Ballesteros in the 78th minute. Canor Enciso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frechoso Goya in the 83rd minute of play forced Verdum's goalkeeper Alvaro Balmori to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 84th minute, Quilino Mateos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ellande Paya fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Honrio Jaraba having to interfere. Ilixo Ballesteros could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 90th minute of the match, but Honrio Jaraba made a huge save. After some fancy dribbling in the 92nd minute, Ilixo Ballesteros managed to get in a good position for a shot. Verdum's supporters rose to their feet, but Ilixo Ballesteros was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Honrio Jaraba breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Bernaldo Cerezo kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. Ilixo Ballesteros struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Honrio Jaraba didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Verdum. Luepa's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
