The audience thought a goal was coming when Gau Minilo got free with Checa Mina in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Clemencin Varga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Macoita's Daunte Dolmos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Clemencin Varga in the 34th minute of play. Clemencin Varga's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Daunte Dolmos read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 36th minute of play. Gau Minilo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 40th minute of the match, but Checa Mina made a huge save. Hermon Palafox charged in rather forcefully in the 46th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Hermon Palafox the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The wind increased when Mateo Umaña made the kick off in the second half. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Leoncio Arizmendi during the 61st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a defensive mix-up in puerto cabello's zone, Leoncio Arizmendi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Checa Mina came out of the goal and Leoncio Arizmendi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 89th minute, David Carrizo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 91 minutes into the game, Laurgain Escalante was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. puerto cabello's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Macoita the free kick.
