In the 6th minute the ball was on its way in behind Universidad de Oriente's goalkeeper Valentin Oseguera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. A collision led to Universidad de Oriente getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Bitxintxo Pachon hit a great ball. Percy Coelho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 10th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 14 minutes into the match, Murendi FC's goalkeeper Gara Chan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Efrain Goycoa. In the last second Gara Chan throw himself and got hold of the ball when Roger Amestoy in the 15thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. Efrain Goycoa struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Gara Chan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Universidad de Oriente. Benicio Solano's late challenge caught a Universidad de Oriente's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Benicio Solano helped the player get up and apologised. An unexpectedly hard shot by Percy Coelho in the 25th minute of play forced Universidad de Oriente's goalkeeper Valentin Oseguera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Percy Coelho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valentin Oseguera having to interfere. 30 minutes into the match, Universidad de Oriente's goal looked a bit too open when Beto Mangueira came free, but Valentin Oseguera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 30th minute, Serapio Doro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 37 played minutes Murendi FC got a freekick which was hit by Horacio Cerda. Efrain Goycoa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Bieito Ronquillo kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. Gara Chan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Efrain Goycoa in the 54th minute of the match. In the 56th minute Roger Amestoy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gara Chan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Universidad de Oriente booed when Murendi FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Horacio Cerda didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Elizardo Beyso in the 59th minute of play forced Murendi FC's goalkeeper Gara Chan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gara Chan came out of the goal in the 59th minute to try and stop a shot by Universidad de Oriente's Roger Amestoy. But to his dismay, Roger Amestoy quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Efrain Goycoa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gara Chan having to interfere. Gara Chan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Efrain Goycoa in the 65th minute of the match. In the 70th minute Roger Amestoy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gara Chan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 75th match minute, Murendi FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Percy Coelho to maneuver through the defense. Gara Chan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Efrain Goycoa in the 76th minute of the match. Valentin Oseguera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Percy Coelho in the 95th minute of the match. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Universidad de Oriente fans cheered their team off the field, for while Murendi FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
