But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Len Izturis couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Saugerties South AFC's Van Lanier got a free kick in the 7th minute. Ron Ortiz kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. Len Izturis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Marcus Ruiz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 17 minutes into the match, Saugerties South AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Denny Woodward came free, but Marcus Ruiz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 22nd minute, Len Izturis got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 24thth minute of the game Denny Woodward who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Saugerties South AFC's Marcus Ruiz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Denny Woodward to make the kick off. Alexis Escobar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Malcolm Petty, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. 55 minutes into the match, College's goal looked a bit too open when Danial Shapiro came free, but Alexis Escobar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Danial Shapiro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Saugerties South AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Danial Shapiro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alexis Escobar breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Saugerties South AFC's Marcus Ruiz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Denny Woodward in the 64th minute of play. Malcolm Petty sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 73rd minute Denny Woodward shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcus Ruiz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 80 minutes, Danial Shapiro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Saugerties South AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Danial Shapiro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Denny Woodward managed to get in a good position for a shot. College's supporters rose to their feet, but Denny Woodward was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marcus Ruiz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Malcolm Petty in the 85th minute of play forced College's goalkeeper Alexis Escobar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 86 played minutes College got a freekick which was hit by Ron Ortiz. After a defensive mix-up in College's zone, Danial Shapiro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alexis Escobar came out of the goal and Danial Shapiro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Danial Shapiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Alexis Escobar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The College players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Saugerties South AFC from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
