After a defensive mix-up in Burney's zone, Stephan Mata stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Otis Horn came out of the goal and Stephan Mata tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. RIVER PLEI's Beto Alonso got a good chance for a goal in the 14th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of RIVER PLEI booed when Burney was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Scot Clement didn't get a good kick on the ball. Palmer Potter made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alex Wynn in the 29th minute of play. Otis Horn was a little too slow when Stephan Mata got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 30th minute. The score was now 1-0. 2-0 became the score in the 35th minute when Stephan Mata elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. With a little luck, Burney's Otis Horn got control of the ball when Beto Alonso tried to sneak it across the goal line. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Arthur Locke to strike the kick off in the second half. Philip Minton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Philip Minton struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Otis Horn didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for RIVER PLEI. If Stephan Mata had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Teddy Hogue hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, RIVER PLEI's Teddy Hogue got a free kick in the 73rd minute. A hard shot by Rudy Mooney from long distance, 74 minutes into the match, got Palmer Potter's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. After 78 minutes, Barry Burt made it 3-0 with a short kick to the right side. Burney's Otis Horn tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 85 minutes in the game, Stephan Mata dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Stephan Mata struck a weak shot in the 92nd minute. Otis Horn didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for RIVER PLEI. An unexpectedly hard shot by Barry Burt in the 97th minute of play forced Burney's goalkeeper Otis Horn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. There was no doubt that RIVER PLEI were the better team. RIVER PLEI's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
