Ivan Ladner's late challenge caught a Rogers City FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ivan Ladner helped the player get up and apologised. 21 minutes into the game, one of Gun Barrel City:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Dean Vaughn didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bryon Calderon went, in the 37th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. 41 minutes into the game, Andy Dorsey was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Rogers City FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gun Barrel City the free kick. After 41 played minutes Rogers City FC got a freekick which was hit by Andy Dorsey. In a very dangerous position, a player in Rogers City FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 42nd minute. Penalty! Scott Ferguson went to the wrong direction when Stevie Stanford was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. Ezra Sherman charged in rather forcefully in the 46th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ezra Sherman the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 45th minute of the game. One of Rogers City FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Gun Barrel City:s goal.

The wind increased when Doug Willoughby made the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Gun Barrel City booed when Rogers City FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adam Wilder didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some careless play in the Rogers City FC defense, Doug Willoughby kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Scott Ferguson. The Rogers City FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Scott Ferguson should have stopped the shot. Rogers City FC's Bryon Calderon got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Andy Dorsey came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Rogers City FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Andy Dorsey couldn't finish the play. In the 75th minute, Doug Willoughby left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Gun Barrel City fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-2. In the 78th minute Wayne Waller shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dean Vaughn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tyrone Tobin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Scott Ferguson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 84th minute, Stevie Stanford hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Wayne Waller fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dean Vaughn having to interfere. After 87 minutes, Adam Wilder mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Rogers City FC and the Gun Barrel City players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 87 played minutes Rogers City FC got a freekick which was hit by Adam Wilder. Salvatore Castle took the ball and in the 94 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Scott Ferguson. Scott Ferguson dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-2. Gun Barrel City's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
