A collision led to Gate City FC getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Jess Rucker hit a great ball. Lehigh Valley Vipers's Jarrod Joiner played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Benjamin Triplett in the 13th minute of play. Matt Ackerman scored 0-2 in the 21st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jarrod Joiner, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 28 minutes into the match, Jess Rucker notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of Lehigh Valley Vipers's Jarrod Joiner. Jarrod Joiner was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Gate City FC's Derick Salter proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 35th minute of the match, managed to save Gate City FC from getting a goal against them. Gate City FC's Matt Ackerman got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Patrick MacDowell hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. Jarrod Joiner didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Matt Ackerman went, in the 43rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-4 was the resulting score. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Benjamin Triplett made the kick off in the second half. Kent Brady fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Derick Salter having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Patrick MacDowell during the 60th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Gate City FC's Stacy Light shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 61st minute of play. The shot was stopped by Jarrod Joiner but with some difficulty. After a rather tough play, Gate City FC's Jess Rucker got a free kick in the 63rd minute. When Anson Mahoney came up free with the goalie in the 65th minute, the Lehigh Valley Vipers fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Anson Mahoney couldn't finish the play. Benjamin Triplett sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Matt Ackerman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lehigh Valley Vipers's Jarrod Joiner played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Benjamin Triplett in the 81st minute of play. In the 83rd minute, Roosevelt Lockwood hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Freddie McKinney fell near the penalty area in the 95th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gate City FC's protests and gave Freddie McKinney a yellow card for diving instead. Freddie McKinney hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match.
