Boyd Blair scored 0-1 in the 26th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Duncan Braden, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Darryl Street fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Duncan Braden having to interfere. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tristan Varner to make the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Kings Mountain's zone, Woody Coulter stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Reed Zaragoza came out of the goal and Woody Coulter tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tristan Varner fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Reed Zaragoza having to interfere. Boyd Blair fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Duncan Braden having to interfere. 66 minutes into the game, Monte Lundy was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. West Branch's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Kings Mountain the free kick. Darryl Street who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 76thth minute tested the skills of Duncan Braden when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After having played for 80 minutes, Monte Lundy managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. West Branch's supporters crossed their fingers, but Monte Lundy was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Kings Mountain booed when West Branch was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jayson Thome didn't get a good kick on the ball.
