Spectators: 6707 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1707, VIP seats: 0) Welsh's Gerard Walsh started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Cary Davies received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Clint Lynn tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cary Davies could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 8th minute of the match, but Clint Lynn made a huge save. Welsh's Clint Holbrook played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ivan Hester in the 12th minute of play. Gerard Walsh might have been able to make a better finish in the 19th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Clint Lynn. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gerard Walsh ran back to his position shaking his head. Ivan Hester fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Clint Holbrook having to interfere. Cary Davies who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 26thth minute tested the skills of Clint Lynn when he managed to save the team from getting behind. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Aldo Sandoval in the 31st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Clint Holbrook saved Welsh from getting behind. With a little luck, Braintree FC's Clint Lynn got control of the ball when Cary Davies tried to sneak it across the goal line. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ivan Hester to strike the kick off in the second half. Clint Lynn made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Louis Grier in the 51st minute of play. After 53 played minutes Braintree FC got a freekick which was hit by Karl Mott. In the 54thth minute of the game Cary Davies who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Braintree FC's Clint Lynn was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 56 minutes into the match, Braintree FC's goal looked a bit too open when Gerard Walsh came free, but Clint Lynn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cary Davies recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 58th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Gerard Walsh took the ball and in the 62 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Clint Lynn. Clint Lynn dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Braintree FC's Clint Lynn played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gerard Walsh in the 66th minute of play. Ivan Hester fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Clint Holbrook having to interfere. A collision led to Welsh getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Rudolf Parrish hit a great ball. After 78 played minutes Welsh got a freekick which was hit by Robbie Sorensen. Alec McCoy got in the 79th minute the ball and tried a long shot which scored to the left of Clint Holbrook and thus it was 1-2. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 84th minute of the game. One of Braintree FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Welsh:s goal. Matt Driscoll placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! Braintree FC's Clint Lynn played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gerard Walsh in the 88th minute of play. When Aldo Sandoval came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the Braintree FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aldo Sandoval couldn't finish the play. Cary Davies fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Clint Lynn having to interfere. The Braintree FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Braintree FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
