Curtis Morrison kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. When Otto Morse came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the Las Vegas FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Otto Morse couldn't finish the play. 29 minutes into the match, Club Santos Laguna's Jerome Cortez sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Vicente McManus narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Vicente McManus didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Carson Kauffman went, in the 30th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-4 was the resulting score. When the match clock showed 44 minutes, the score became 2-5 when Carson Kauffman sped through Las Vegas FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Vicente McManus. Carson Kauffman recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.

The wind increased when Otto Morse made the kick off in the second half. When Otto Morse came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the Las Vegas FC fans jumped to their feet.
